Haikyū!! Shōsetsuban!! (Japanese: ハイキュー! ! ショーセツバン! ! Haikyū!! Shōsetsuban!!) is a series of thirteen light novels written by Kiyoko Hoshi and based on Haikyū!! by Haruichi Furudate. The novels were released in Japan by Shueisha between June 4, 2013[1] and November 4, 2020.[2] The chapters were subsquently re-released in a series of six volumes based on the "high school and season of Karasuno", between November 18, 2020[3] and January 18, 2021.[4]

First release[]

Instead of being a direct novelisation, the Shōsetsuban!! novels tend to focus on things that happen before, after or between events of the manga, or those events from a different characters point of view. The novels usually contain six or seven chapters, plus a bonus chapter, often based on a Director Ennoshita movie poster.

Second release[]

In late 2020, Haikyū!! Shōsetsuban!! was re-released as a series of six light-novels, with each once focused on a different school along with a season. Each novel also included a new bonus chapter and new illustrations from Haruichi Furudate.

Special chapter[]

On February 16, 2024, Haikyū!! Magazine 2024 February was released in Japan; the same day as Haikyū!! The Movie: Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump released in cinemas.[5] This magazine included a special chapter of Haikyū!! Shōsetsuban!!, titled Road to Paris.

International publication[]

The Haikyū!! Shōsetsuban!! series has been translated into Chinese and published in Taiwan[6] and Hong Kong[7] by Tong Li Publishing with the title 排球少年!!小說版!! (Volleyball Boy!! Novel Version!!), and Korean[8] by Daewon C.I. with the title 하이큐!! 소설판!! (High-Q!! Novel Version!!).
